We know that
Haiti had natural disasters experienced and
earthquake causing great loss.
Victim who died almost reached hundreds of thousands people.
So, the United States government gives the status of '
temporary protected status' to Haitian.
That things that cause United States American government gave the status because many reason.
With pressure from Florida politicians and others, the Barrack Obama administration this afternoon announced it was granting "temporary protected status" to Haitian nationals, many in Florida, who have been in the U.S. since Jan. 12.
"This is a disaster of historic proportions and this designation will allow eligible Haitian nationals in the United States to continue living and working in our country for the next 18 months. Providing a temporary refuge for Haitian nationals who are currently in the United States and whose personal safety would be endangered by returning to Haiti is part of this Administration’s continuing efforts to support Haiti’s recovery," Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said.
Haitians have long sought the status but have long been denied despite a series of natural and political catastrophes.
Members of the Florida delegation, including Sen. Bill Nelson, Reps. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, Kendrick Meek, Alcee Hastings, Mario Diaz-Balart and Lincoln Diaz-Balart, had urged President Barrack Obama to offer TPS.
“This is the right thing to do," Nelson said. "Haitian immigrants already in the U.S. will not only be able to make money to support themselves, but also to send remittances to their suffering families back in Haiti."
"It is a humanitarian gesture worth commending," said Lincoln Diaz-Balart.
Said Meek, "It’s been a long time coming. The President invoked the compassion clause by granting Temporary Protected Status and demonstrated that our policies are built upon pillars of morality and justice."
